One day, I printed my parents’ wedding photographs. As we looked through them, they laughed and pointed, reliving moments I’d never heard them talk about. But between the laughter, something else emerged. They spoke about what they’d had to let go. The rituals that mattered to them but didn’t fit the plan. The creative choices they’d compromised on. The vision they couldn’t quite make real.
That’s when it hit me: weddings are the biggest moment in your life. But I realized most couples don’t walk away thinking, “That was ours.” They think, “that went smoothly.”
